Kawe's debut goal not enough

CROWD-FAVOURITE Vasilli Kawe scored his first goal for Scottland, but it was not enough as the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers settled for a 1-1 draw against former champions, FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium on Easter Monday.

Kawe broke the duck in the 19th minute after getting to the end of a Khama Billiat assist, his third of the season.

FC Platinum equalized in the second half with a goal from Jarison Selemani, negating Kawe's earlier strike.

In the end, a draw was a fair result for the respective coaches.

Scottland coach, Tonderai Ndiraya said it was a game where both teams had their chances to win all three points.

"It was a good game of football and an exciting match. We had our moments; they had their moments. We started well, but after scoring, we lost concentration and allowed FC Platinum to play. If you allow FC Platinum to play, they can hurt you and that's what happened. However, I think a point against FC Platinum is good. They have been around for a while, yet we are only just coming up," said Ndiraya.

Scottland, now in fourth place, missed key opportunities in their match, including a goal-line clearance after Walter Musona's attack and a late free kick from Nathan Mutasa.

Up next for Scottland is a trip to Nyamhunga for a date with ZPC Kariba on Saturday.
