Scottland FC

About Us

The inception of Scottland FC was more than just about creating a football team; it was about building a community.

Year 2023, In the heart of Mabvuku, a vibrant suburb of Harare, Zimbabwe, a new chapter in local football history began with the formation of Scottland Football Club. Founded by Hon Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya, a passionate advocate for youth development and a Member of Parliament, the club was established with a vision to provide young people with opportunities to pursue their passion for football and steer them away from negative influences. The inception of Scottland FC was more than just about creating a football team; it was about building a community. Sakupwanya’s vision was to use football as a tool for social change, aiming to inspire the youth of Mabvuku to dream big and work hard. The club’s name, “Scottland FC,” though initially met with mixed reactions, symbolizes a blend of local pride and global aspirations.

Team History

Scottland Football Club was formed on January 1, 2023. As a sitting councillor and aspiring Member of Parliament in Mabvuku, Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya decided to set up a football club to help keep youths away from drugs. The team joined Zifa Division Two with predominantly Mabvuku players. At the start of the 2024 season, an opportunity arose when the team that had won a ticket into the Northern Region Soccer League pulled out.

Scottland president, Sakupwanya then took up the slot and hastily assembled a team dominated by players from the Division Two squad. With mid-season additions, the team went on to clinch the NRSL title on first attempt. “When we started, the team was made up of Mabvuku residents. In the past, we once had a team called Circle Cement in Mabvuku playing in the Premier Soccer League. They were later relegated from the Premier Soccer League. “We then sat down and resolved to form a new team that would make it to the Premier Soccer League and revive the good old days when we would watch PSL games almost every two weeks at Circle Cement.

“It also fitted into our efforts to keep youths away from drugs and related activities,” explained Sakupwanya.
