FANS favourite Khama Billiat opened his scoring account for Scottland FC in a 1-1 draw against his former team, Yadah FC, in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday.

Billiat, a captain for Yadah in the 2024 season, headed in his first goal of the season in the 27th minute, connecting with a cross from Panashe Mutimbanyoka.

As a sign of respect for his former teammates and club, Billiat did not go for his trademark “Ronaldo” celebration.

Scottland FC dominated the first half, creating several dangerous attacks that could have resulted in more goals for the newly formed team. Earlier in the game, former FC Platinum midfielder Panashe Mutimbanyoka had an opportunity to put Scottland ahead but failed to capitalize on his shot inside the penalty area.

Yadah managed to level the score in the 43rd minute when Francis Mustafa tapped in a low cross from close range.

This followed a failed clearance by Peter Muduhwa, which allowed former Zimbabwe international, Evans Rusike to burst into the box and send a low cross to an unmarked teammate.

The score remained 1-1 at halftime and ultimately at the final whistle, leaving Scottland in third place with 11 points from a possible 18 after six games.

Scottland FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya acknowledged the desire for a win but remained optimistic about the season ahead.

"We would have really wanted three points, but a point is good for us. We have a long way to go. We have only played six games, so there’s really nothing much to talk about,” he said.

He also predicted significant changes in the league standings by around Match Day 17.

"I think between now and probably Match Day 17, there’s going to be a lot of changes in the top-half of the log.” he said.
